About Lewis
Lewis leads a specialist design team taking on fabrication design for established steel businesses who have more work than their in-house teams can handle.

I’ve been in the steel industry for over twenty seven years.
I started on the workshop floor in Auckland, New Zealand — took on an apprenticeship, graduated top of my class, and eventually moved into the drawing office.
The reason I made that move is the same reason I do what I do today. The drawings coming into the workshop weren’t fit for fabrication. They looked right on paper but they
didn’t account for how steel actually gets built. I knew I could do better — so I did.
Since then I’ve had the privilege of working on some of the most recognised structures in the world. The 2012 London Olympics Athletes Village. Heathrow Terminal 3. The Royal Opera House. The Chelsea Flower Show. Projects that tens of thousands of people walk through every day without knowing the design work that made them possible.
What I bring to every project isn’t just technical ability, it’s fabrication knowledge from the ground up. I don’t just draw steel. I understand how it gets made, how it goes together on site, and where things go wrong when the design doesn’t account for reality.
That’s what makes the difference in the millions.
